Next week, Bradford College will join the rest of the country in marking the 17th annual National Apprenticeship Week. This exciting celebration shines a spotlight on the value and opportunities offered by apprenticeships.

The event (February 5-11) has gradually become the pinnacle of the apprenticeship calendar, bringing together the entire apprenticeship community to honour and champion the impact of apprenticeships.

Every day during NAW2024, the Bradford College Careers Team will be on hand at dedicated sessions to answer apprenticeship questions, bust myths, and discuss pathways to career success.

On Tuesday February 5 the Apprenticeship Games will return for the second year. Teams of apprenticeship employers, staff from the award-winning Bradford College partnerships team, and students will go head-to-head to topple reigning champions, Bradford City AFC. Who will be crowned ‘Apprenticeship Team of the Year 2024’?

The packed timetable includes a special apprenticeship open evening at the David Hockney Building on Wednesday, February 7, from 4pm-6pm.

During the evening, there will be two time slots (4pm and 5pm) to attend a talk, and meet the apprenticeship team to find out more about individual apprenticeship areas. The talks are aimed at anyone wanting to start an apprenticeship, and all are welcome.

Bradford College has over 30 years of experience delivering apprenticeships across varied sectors. Apprenticeships in healthcare, construction, engineering, dental, motor vehicle, early years, hairdressing, and teaching are available, alongside professional services, business administration, customer service, and team leader and management.

The College uses “roll-on roll-off” training, which means all apprenticeships can begin at any point within the year. Staff can help explain the application process, CV writing, interview tips, or speaking to a business about the benefits of employing an apprentice.

Last year, Bradford College was awarded the title of West Yorkshire Apprenticeship Training Provider of the Year for the second time running. The College supports up to 1,600 apprentices across approximately 900 employers at any one time in Bradford and beyond.

THE Bradford College Catering & Hospitality team had a busy day when they hosted a unique tasting event in partnership with The Chefs’ Forum and the Aussie Meat Academy (AMA).

Assisted by students, nine established chefs arrived at The Grove training restaurant for a day crafting their own dishes, using top-quality cuts of meat provided by Aussie Beef & Lamb (AB&L).

Students were assigned their own chef, and each group got stuck into cooking up a masterpiece.

Chefs attending the event included former TV MasterChef finalist and Executive Chef, Exose Grant.

Lecturer Andy Bray said: “We have all loved learning about Australian beef and lamb today and really enjoy the sessions received through our Chefs’ Forum partnership.”

VIP visitors to the college event also included the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Cllr Gerry Barker, and members of the team from MyLahore and Regal Food Products Group PLC.

You can start your journey this week during the College’s 'Maths & English Enrolment Week' (January 29 to February 2). Enrolment sessions will take place throughout the week at the Bradford College Adult Learning Centre, Centenary Square.

Visit the Bradford College website events page for further information and enrolment times. Use the web form to register your interest in enrolling on Maths, English or Digital Skills courses, and the college will contact you to confirm the process.
