A BRADFORD-born actor is to collect a Lifetime Achievement award.

Star of stage and screen of more than 70 years, Timothy West CBE will pick up the gong from The Yorkshire Society.

The 35th edition of the awards will honour a host of well-known names including Leeds Rhinos hero Kevin Sinfield CBE and Rawdon's George Webster of CBBC.

The highlight of the night is set to be the award to 89-year-old West.

He was born in Bradford in 1934 and was awarded a CBE for his services to drama in the 1984 Queen's Birthday Honours List. 

He has established himself as one of Britain's best-loved and most versatile actors.

He has been married to the actor Prunella Scales for 60 years, with whom he has often appeared on stage. 

The Gala Dinner on March 1 will be held at The Queens Hotel in Leeds and will be compered by Christine Talbot and Duncan Wood.
