HAPPY Mondays and Black Grape frontman Shaun Ryder is to perform at a venue near Keighley.

He will appear at Glusburn Institute Community and Arts Centre in the autumn.

His November 24 gig forms part of a UK tour, called Happy Mondays and Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays, in support of a new book.

"Shaun is the 'wild man' of rock who became a national treasure," says a spokesperson for the venue, in Colne Road.

"Fans can look forward to a carnival of wild tales and improbable truths, as they enjoy the talents of a unique rock 'n' roll star dubbed Britpop's answer to WB Yeats!"

As lead singer of Happy Mondays, he was a prominent figure in the 'Madchester' cultural scene during the late 1980s and early 1990s, and in 1993 he formed Black Grape with former Happy Mondays dancer Bez.

He's also starred in TV programmes including I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and Celebrity Gogglebox.

Tickets go on sale to Glusburn Institute Community and Arts Centre priority mailing list members on Monday (January 22) and will be on general sale from January 29.
