A NEW app has launched to help families in Bradford enjoy the outdoors and get moving this summer.

JU:MP (Join Us: Move. Play), in collaboration with Born in Bradford (BiB), has launched Bestlife.

Bestlife is the first free physical activity app of its kind, with a wide selection of activities and quests that immerses young people in an animated city of Bradford.

Young people and families can earn points and rewards for their personalised avatar by completing lots of different fun activities to feel good and move more.

JU:MP’s programme director Jan Burkhardt said: “The app uses gamification and interventions, such as goal setting and rewards and other behaviour change approaches, to engage young people and their family members in active quests both at home and outdoors.”

The Born in Bradford project is one of the largest health research studies in the world.

More than 60,000 Bradfordians will be involved in the study over the course of their lives, looking at how some people fall sick, while others stay healthy.

A seven year project known as the Age of Wonder - which looks at teenagers' journey from adolescence to adulthood - also collaborated with JU:MP.

It is hoped this will help the app reach as many people as possible.
