KILNSEY Park in the Yorkshire Dales is extending its eco-promise to couples married on the estate by inviting all new and recent newlyweds back to plant a tree in its new traditional orchard.

Over the last decade, couples have been able to hire a variety of sustainably managed locations across the estate − which was awarded the Green Tourism Gold certification in 2016, to tailor their special day to their own unique needs, taking advantage of the site’s ability to hold registered services and accommodate parties from just 10 to 150 guests.

Jamie Roberts, owner of the estate, said: “We are always looking at how we can reduce the carbon footprint of the weddings we host here - for example our wedding licensed pagoda is powered by solar panels.

"Creating an orchard planted by couples married on the estate felt like a perfect way of enhancing that further, along with giving people a tangible connection to the estate and somewhere they can return to.”

Anthony Banks, owner of Ribble Valley Group corporate event catering, who was recently invited to return to the estate to plant a tree with his wife Rebecca said: “We supply a lot of outdoor weddings but chose Kilnsey Park for our own because it was important to us that it is being managed sustainably and that the beauty and nature of its meadows and woodlands is being protected and enhanced for generations to come.

"Being able to return to plant a tree together was very special and a real green legacy for us as a couple too.”

Kilnsey Park will be hosting a wedding open day on September 17. For further information visit: www.kilnseypark.co.uk
