A LEADING film actor has become the latest star name to visit a hotel where popular TV shows have been filmed and The Beatles once stayed.

Ewan McGregor, who has starred in films including the Star Wars franchise and Trainspotting, paid a visit to Holdsworth House Hotel & Restaurant in Halifax earlier this week.

He visited the hotel while filming ‘A Gentleman in Moscow’, in which he plays the lead role.

Holdsworth House Hotel & Restaurant posted on its Facebook page: “We don't often get starstruck but that was certainly the case last night.

“Such a pleasure to host Ewan McGregor whilst he's been filming 'A Gentleman in Moscow'. What a true gent!

“And yet another great TV production shooting in Hali-Wood!!”

Holdsworth House Hotel & Restaurant in Halifax is this year marking its 60th anniversary after it first opened its doors to the public in 1963, following 330 years as a private residence.

In the sixties, the hotel counted The Beatles, Jayne Mansfield and Rudolf Nureyev amongst the famous guests that stayed.

The venue has found fame thanks to director Sally Wainwright MBE, who featured it in Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax.

Holdsworth House has also played host to other famous faces including James Norton, Suranne Jones, Melvyn Bragg, and Sir Derek Jacobi.
