BRADFORD-based cheerleaders are celebrating after competing in the ICU World Championships in Florida.

Four athletes from Elite Dance & Cheer travelled to Orlando after securing places on the Team England squad.

Louis Bottomley, 16, and Scarlett Bedford, 15, both secured places on the senior team.

Georgina Sears, 20, represented the senior team as the senior captain.

And thanks to Tillie Wood, 13, the England Youth Pom category ranked fourth in the world.

Maddie Scarfe, owner of Elite, said: “We couldn’t be prouder of the climb Elite is making in the cheer and dance industry in only our second season.

“We have vast experience in athletes and coaches representing their country involved at Elite Dance & Cheer, who want to pass their skill and knowledge on to the next future stars of cheer and dance.”

After their huge success at the World Championships, two teams from Elite will be heading out to Florida next year after securing international worlds bids at two competitions in the past season.

The team is fundraising for the trip themselves and have several events in the pipeline.

Maddie said: “We continually push our athletes to be the best they can and being on Team England is the reward of just that, it requires a lot of hard work and dedication, it is the pinnacle of cheer and dance, there is no higher accolade than representing your country."
