A BRADFORD comedy night which celebrated difference and inclusivity was hailed as a “huge success” – and more dates have now been announced.

You Can Laugh, You Know! – a gig for comedians with disabilities – was held at the Rockwell Centre in Thorpe Edge on March 3.

Organiser Sam Judd, himself a comic and a wheelchair user, was delighted at how it was received.

“We had overwhelmingly positive feedback,” said Sam, who lives in Headingley, Leeds.

“We’ve now announced three more dates, and I’m really excited.”

More gigs will be held on May 18, July 7 and September 8.

They will take place in the evenings, but times are yet to be confirmed.

Comedians Alex Mitchell, Joe Kirkwood, Lizzy Lenco, Jax Griffin, Ian Younghusband and Emerson Young all performed at the event earlier this month.

“Expect some familiar faces, but mainly new, in these upcoming nights of empowerment and laughter,” Sam added.

“The gigs are open to anyone who considers themselves disabled and wants to have a go at stand-up – or ‘sit down’ – comedy,” Sam said, lightheartedly.

“You don't have to be a professional, you just need to be willing to have a go. It will help if you are funny as well!

“Please email samjudd.comedy@gmail.com with a little bit about yourself and, if you have one, a short video of your set.

“We will pay you £20, and you can do up to 15 minutes in front of an understanding and non-judgemental audience.”
