AN organisation promoting inclusion has partnered with police to assist officers and staff with skills to support the diverse communities of West Yorkshire.
Inclusive Employers, an Inclusion and Diversity membership organisation, have partnered with West Yorkshire Police to assist officers and staff with widening their knowledge, skills to support the diverse communities of West Yorkshire.
Policing in Black, Asian and other ethnic minority communities has a long and complex history resulting in mistrust.
The two-day training programme aims to equip officers and staff further to serve the local communities in an effective and culturally sensitive way.

To do this, the organisation is looking for community representatives who could participate in the training program by sharing their experiences.
To take part, you must: live in West Yorkshire, be from a Black, Asian or another ethnic minority background, be available to take part two to five days per month for a minimum of three months, be open to speaking to police officers and staff about your lived experiences as a person from an ethnic minority background.
In addition to the essential criteria above, the organisation would be particularly interested in people who: have experience with the criminal justice system, have a close relationship with a person or people who have had contact with the criminal justice system, have had interactions with West Yorkshire Police either as a victim of a crime or in connection with a crime, feel passionate about making a positive impact on the future of policing.
If you would be interested in participating, please contact the project lead, Tanisha Singla, on tmsingla@inclusiveemployers.co.uk, who will arrange an informal telephone conversation by March, 31,2023.
