HINTERLANDS Film Festival is heading back to Skipton next month, and it will include a special Mother's Day screening of Emily - based on the life of Emily Bronte.

Emily, staring Sex Education's Emma Mackey, will be shown at Skipton Town Hall on Sunday, March 19 and will be followed by cream tea and a question and answer session at Alexander's with the film's producer Piers Tempest, who lives near Skipton.

The festival, which will run from Friday, March 17 for three days, will see a variety of screenings and events taking place across the town, also including the Plaza Cinema and the Narrowboat pub.

There will also be a screening of the comedy, Sightseers, which reaches its climax at Ribblehead Viaduct, at the amphitheatre, off the High Street, and next to Skipton Town Hall.

There will also be a Caving event with local expert Steph Dwyer and screening of caving film Il Buco at the Plaza , where there will also be a live podcast recordings of For the Love of Horror, and Wilderness Tracks with film critic Ellen E Jones.

And for dog owners, there will be pet-friendly showing of Wes Anderson's Isle of Dogs, also at the Plaza.

Tickets are still available for an Iranian film, food and music night with a screening of road-trip comedy Hit The Road, a screening of the award-winning The Banshees of Inisherin, followed by a ceilidh to celebrate St Patrick’s Day, a comedy-horror in a vintage caravan, and lots more.

Geoff Bird, the festival's artistic director, said: "Hinterlands is all about the great outdoors in films from around the world.

"Every film in the festival programme is a celebration of incredible rural landscapes and lives, whether it’s set on the remote west coast of Ireland, the sweeping hills of West Yorkshire or on a roadtrip across Iran.

"And of course, Skipton is the ultimate backdrop to Hinterlands with the drama and beauty of the Dales right on the doorstep."

Rowan Cannon, director of Wild Rumpus, the event producers behind the festival, added: "Unique events and screenings are what make Hinterlands so special.

"I can’t wait to hear all about the filming of Emily at the Q&A with Piers, to delve deep into an underground cave from the comfort of the Plaza Cinema, and to bring my dog, Chip to our pooch-friendly screening of Isle of Dogs."

Hinterlands is supported by Film Hub North with National Lottery funding on behalf of the BFI Film Audience Network, and Skipton BID.
