George Healey and Queensbury are through to the MARK HAWKINS TROPHY semi-finals after the two sides made contrasting progress in the Spen Valley & District League knock-out competition.

Matthew Parkinson scored twice as George Healey swamped Ring o' Bells 5-1, with James Simpson, James Eggie and Philip Temple completing the tally.

Norfolk beat Queensbury 3-2 but had needed to score five times to take the place of their opponents in the last four.

Two early goals gave Norfolk hope but Queensbury drew level through Daimion Scrimshaw and Jamie Simpson-Wood to effectively book their place in the semis, even though the hosts later added a winning goal.

Jalal Qadry, Z Khan and Shakeel Pandor netted for Norfolk but it was Queensbury who went through to face Black Horse for a place in the final.

Meanwhile, Howden Clough came through extra time and penalties to finally edge out Savile Youth and will take on George Healey in the SPEN VALLEY CUP final on May 15.

Savile led 1-0 at half-time but Howden equalised to take the tie to extra time, which ended level at 2-2, before winning the shoot-out 4-3.

George Healey saw off Black Horse, who twice took the lead but eventually missed out 3-2 as goals from Mark Rendor and late strikes by Ricky Tomlinson and Matthew Parkinson settled the contest.

League action saw Wellington Wanderers and Bosnia draw 0-0 in the PREMIER DIVISION, while Soothill took advantage of Howden Clough's midweek exertions to win 5-1.

Abdullah Aswat bagged a hat-trick for Soothill, backed up by goals from Imran Lunat and Suleman Aswat, while Gerrard Burk replied for Clough.

Bradford Arms blew a two-goal interval lead at Marsh in DIVISION ONE as the hosts hit back to earn a 2-2 draw.

John Milner and Phil Evans provided the goals to level the scores, with James Shingleton the inspiration behind the comeback.
