A reforming drug addict hanged himself after he split up with his partner and lost his job, an inquest heard.
The family of Matthew Thomas Wright, 28, became concerned for his safety when he failed to return their telephone calls for two days.
His mother and aunt called at his flat in Rillington Mead, Ravenscliffe, Bradford, to check on him and discovered his body suspended above the toilet in the bathroom.
The Bradford inquest heard that Mr Wright had taken cannabis as a teenager before going on to use heroin. He had recently been referred to a self-help programme and was taking prescribed methadone up until his death.
Mr Wright lost his job as an electrician days before he died on July 27, 2007, and his relationship with his partner had broken down in recent months.
A post-mortem examination found traces of methadone in his organs, ruled to be consistent with his medication.
Recording a suicide verdict, assistant deputy coroner Paul Marks said: "There can be no doubt he intended to kill himself."
