The jury in the trial of a former boxer accused of attempting to murder a 14-year-old girl will resume its deliberations at Bradford Crown Court this morning.
The prosecution has alleged 52-year-old father-of-four David Waterhouse, of no fixed address, deliberately stabbed the girl in the chest in June, 2006, during an incident in a garden on the Holme Wood estate.
The girl, who cannot be identified, suffered an eight-inch deep wound which pierced her diaphragm and liver.
She lost four and a half pints of blood and her spinal muscles were damaged.
Waterhouse has denied attempted murder and an alternative charge of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
The jury of six men and six women retired to began their deliberation late on Wednesday afternoon, but after a full day of considering the evidence yesterday they were again sent home for the night.
