A woman was injured when she fell to the floor during a scuffle with a hooded robber at her shop.

The thief escaped with the till containing an unknown amount of cash from Stitch In Time needlework shop in The Green, Idle, Bradford, at about 2.30pm today.

The woman told police she heard a knock at the back door and went to investigate, but on her return to the front of the shop she saw a man trying to steal the till from the counter.

An altercation ensued and the shopkeeper was knocked to the floor. She suffered a cut leg and an injured shoulder.

The suspect fled the shop and ran off. He is described as 5ft to 5ft 2ins tall and wore a dark-coloured duffle coat with a hood pulled over his face.
