The latest healthcare innovations in maternity, gynaecology, wound care and orthopaedics were showcased at an event held at Bradford Royal Infirmary this week.

Speakers included chief executive of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Miles Scott, director of the Bradford Institute for Health Research, Professor John Wright and Professor Phil Coates, pro-vice chancellor for research and knowledge transfer at the University of Bradford.

The event looked at intellectual property and its role in the NHS, gave advice to staff about innovations and also the opportunity to discuss their own ideas.

Angela Grange, lead nurse for clinical quality and research, said: "The event highlighted the work our staff have done in helping to drive forward innovative ways to improve the care that that is offered to patients."

Professor Coates, added: "This has been exciting opportunity to develop new links with our clinical colleagues to ensure that health research can be effectively applied and clinical ideas can be made into a reality.

"Healthcare innovation is both a regional and national priority and this event has great potential to initiate improvements in patient care."
