Skipton Building Society's Charitable Foundation has donated £2,000 to Skipton and Craven Action for Disability (SCAD) to carry out maintenance work on its canal boat, The Endeavour.
The wide beam boat is used to take groups of disabled people on day cruises on the Leeds/Liverpool canal during the summer season, enabling them to enjoy a day out on the canal within a comfortable environment.
SCAD was formed during the National Year of the Disabled 1981, by Marjorie Charlesworth. Its aim is to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities in the Craven area, by providing access to mainstream activities such as swimming, bingo, art and indoor bowls.
