Market stall boss Abid Hussain was cleared by a jury today of indecently assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

Mr Hussain, 43, of Leeds Road, Eccleshill, Bradford, had denied three charges of assault in October 2006, in which the girl said he sexually assaulted her and made indecent suggestions.

He said there had been no intentional touching and nothing had been said of a sexual nature.

The jury sitting at Leeds Crown Court took just over a hour to reach the not guilty verdicts.

Judge Alastair McCallum said: "It is in cases like this that not long ago the law required there had to be some other independent evidence to corroborate what was said.

"Now, to a large extent, the defence depends on the jury examining the evidence very carefully which the jury has done in this case."

After the case, Mr Hussain's solicitor Tahir Jamil, of Bradford, said: "My client is extremely grateful to the jury."
