The Ilkley in Bloom group is seeking volunteers to help keep the town clean for the Yorkshire in Bloom contest.

The judges will carry out their spring round of judging for the annual regional contest on Wednesday, April 9. They will be shown around the town by members of voluntary group Ilkley in Bloom.

The group is this year planning to have two litter-picking sessions in the town centre and around the route it plans to take the judges.

The first clean-up operation is on Sunday. Anyone who wants to help out should meet in the South Hawksworth Street car park at 10am.

Litter pickers and rubbish sacks will be provided for volunteers on the day.

The group will hold another quick litter pick on Tuesday. Volunteers should meet in the central car park at 6.30pm.

The judges will make their second visit during the summer. The results of the competition will be announced in September.
