JCT600’s Vauxhall, Peugeot and Citroen dealership on Sticker Lane, Bradford, could close “on a permanent basis”, it has been proposed.

Staff were reportedly told about potential changes to the Sticker Lane dealership on Tuesday, sources told the Telegraph & Argus.

JCT600 confirmed that discussions had taken place regarding its future and “relocating as many colleagues as possible” to other sites.

In recent years, JCT600 brought its Citroen, Vauxhall and Peugeot dealerships together at its Sticker Lane operation. All three of those car manufacturers are owned by the multinational automotive manufacturing corporation Stellantis.

Is JCT600's Vauxhall/Peugeot/Citroen dealership on Sticker Lane closing?

A spokesperson for JCT600 told the Telegraph & Argus: “For several months, we have been having discussions with Stellantis, regarding the future of our Vauxhall/Peugeot/Citroen business on Sticker Lane in Bradford.

“As an outcome of these discussions, we have communicated to our colleagues yesterday a proposal that this operation closes on a permanent basis.

“Should closure be the outcome of these consultations our focus will be on relocating as many affected colleagues as possible.”

Stellantis did not wish to comment on the announcement.

When JCT600 announced that all three car makes would be sold from the same Sticker Lane site, a press release read: “By moving Citroën BradfordPeugeot Bradford, and Vauxhall Bradford into the same location, we’ll be able to the reach new high levels of customer service these brands and their customers deserve.

“If you’re a Peugeot customer in Bradford, it’s absolutely business as usual. The Peugeot Bradford team are in the same place they were before, ready and waiting to help you find your next car or van, or lend a hand keeping your current one in tip-top condition.

"If you’re a Citroën or Vauxhall customer, all that’s changing is the location of the dealership.”

What opened in 1946 as Brooklands Garage became the long-standing, family-owned Bradford car dealership business known as JCT600.

JCT600 has been Bradford's Vauxhall representative since 1955.

The company remains a family owned and run business, having been created by business legend Jack Tordoff, who died after a lengthy illness aged 86 in 2021.

During a career spanning 71 years, Mr Tordoff built JCT600 from a single workshop and petrol station into one of Yorkshire's best success stories.

His son, John Tordoff, took the helm as chief executive following his passing.

JCT600 has 54 dealerships across Yorkshire, the North East, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire.

The Bradford-based group’s existing portfolio includes other volume brands including Volkswagen, Mazda, MG, Cupra, Kia, Mitsubishi and SEAT.
