Laisterdyke B missed out on the Division Five title to Hermits G by just one point and they had to face opposition from Hermits once again in the play-offs.

Hermits E finished next to bottom of Division Four and they stood in the way of Laisterdyke and promotion.

Peter Chan and Mukhtar Khan put Laisterdyke 4-2 ahead by winning two each with Norman Swift and Allen Waring replying for Hermits.

The turning point came in set seven when Waring played superbly to beat Chan.

Swift levelled the match against Khan and Roger Swithenbank proved too consistent for Azim Afzal to put Hermits 5-4 up and they secured victory as Swift and Waring took the doubles to maintain their Division Four status and deny Laisterdyke once again.

Dewsbury Sedbergh retained their Division One status with a comfortable 6-1 victory over Division Two runners-up Highdale C. Mark Land, Dave Heptonstall and Steve Morris all won two for Dewsbury, with Chris Kendle the lone success for Highdale.

Fastbats G also had a 6-1 verdict against Salem in the Division Five/Six encounter. Adam Marsden, Peter Eccles and Rod Hullah shared the Fastbats sets, with Colin Waddington on the mark for Salem.
