EASTENDERS is widely-regarded as one of the nation's favourite soap operas.

And despite its East End setting, many Bradfordians have graced the streets of Walford over the years.

Here is a look back at some of the Bradford-born actors who have appeared on the show.

Heather Peace (Eve Unwin) 2021-

If you weren't aware one Bradford actress is making quite the impression in Albert Square.

In the late part of this year, Peace burst onto our screens as Stacey Slater's deranged wife Eve Unwin.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

The 46-year-old is best known for her hit role as Nikki Boston in the BBC school-based drama Waterloo Road from 2012 to 2014.

She went to St Joseph's Primary School in Little Horton and Manningham's St Joseph's Catholic College.

George Layton (Norman Simmonds) 2011-12

Not many actors can say they have played the love interest of an Eastenders stalwart.

Layton starred as Janine Butcher’s estranged Uncle Norman who had a soft spot for old friend Pat Evans.

The former Belle Vue pupil, 78, featured in many hit shows in the seventies and eighties including It Ain't Half Hot Mum, Doctor in the House and Minder.

Timothy West (Stan Carter) 2014-15

Bradford-born Timothy West had been in the business for more than half a century when he steamed into the soap as head of the Carter clan (Shirley, Mick and Tina).

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

It was Stan's relationship with grandson Mick, played by Danny Dyer, that really grabbed the viewers' attention.

Stan exited the show after just over a year following a battle with prostate cancer.

Ade Edmondson (Daniel Cook) 2019-20

Edmondson, the son of a deputy headmaster at Drummond Middle School in Manningham, has been acting for 40 years.

The 64-year-old comedian, who was born in Bradford, started out on shows such as The Young Ones and Bottom before Jonathan Creek and Holby City in the noughties.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

The former Celebrity Masterchef winner rocked up to E20 to star as Jean Slater's boyfriend, Daniel Cook.

Things all got a bit murky when terminally ill Daniel faked his own death to avoid Jean watching him die slowly.

David Roper (Geoff Barnes) 1994-95

Born in St Luke’s Hospital, David Roper, 77, has been a familiar face, and voice, on stage, screen and radio for nearly 50 years.

The Bradford Grammar School has completed the UK soap hat trick, having featured in Emmerdale, Coronation Street and EastEnders - as Geoff Barnes, Michelle Fowler’s college tutor and lover.
