Investment specialist YFM Group, which last year was involved in investing £100,000 to help fund the growth of Bradford-based satellite communications group Orbit Research, enjoyed one of its busiest and successful years during 2007.
During the past 12 months, YFM Group increased its investment in Yorkshire companies by 128 per cent, and in the UK overall the number of companies backed by its funds rose by almost 20 per cent, with deal size rising by around 60 per cent to £208m.
Andy Cucksey, YFM Group's head of marketing, said: "This has been a fantastic year for YFM Group.
"During the year we saw a significant increase in the requirement for development and expansion capital from these businesses - a trend we expect to see continued in 2008. Most of our investments are aimed at smaller, high growth companies and the supply of capital to these is crucial to the development and health of the economy.
"Over the last five years YFM Group has invested more than £110m in deals worth more than £630m, helping hundreds of management teams and entrepreneurs grow and develop their business."
