The future of historic Ireland Bridge in Bingley is due to be discussed tomorrow.

Bradford Council officers, Bingley ward Councillor David Heseltine and English Heritage bosses will iron out issues involving the bridge, where traffic restrictions have been in place for months.

Bradford Council wants to strengthen the Grade II listed structure by increasing the depth of the road surface by ten inches.

But English Heritage say raising the parapets of the historic bridge alters its character.

Concerns have also been raised about what to do with a series of 132,000-volt cables owned by the National Grid, which run through the bridge.
