A court heard today that Tahir Nawaz showed no remorse after battering his sister in law.
Nawaz, 21, formerly of Northdale Road, Bradford, but now living in Rotherham, appeared at Bingley magistrates court to receive his sentence.
He had been found guilty of common assault-battery after a trial at Bingley on December 3. The offence happened on July 23 last year and the case was adjourned for a probation report.
Nawaz was sentenced to 120 hours' unpaid and supervised work in the community and ordered to pay £100 compensation and £625 court costs.
Presiding magistrate Ian Thompson said the severity of the sentence took into account the information given in the probation report.
He told Nawaz: "The report states that you have shown no remorse and neither do you accept any responsibility for what happened".
The case was one of domestic violence where injury was sustained by you sister in law, he added.
