Halifax Town 0, Exeter City 3

Halifax Town boss Chris Wilder slammed his side's "abysmal" defending and vowed to make changes in January.

The Shaymen's proud unbeaten home record was shattered by the power play of striker Jamie Mackie.

He had a hand in the first two goals, hit the post and scored the third as the Shaymen's defence was ripped apart time and time again.

Wilder said: "Our centre backs were appalling and our defending was abysmal.

"We just never got to grips with their front two. I don't expect my centre backs to be dominated like that. I have the chance to change it in January and that is what I will do.

"If players are dropped, they can't complain. They have had 20 games to get it right."

Halifax went behind when keeper Adam Legzdins brought down Mackie in the third minute and Richard Logan scored from the spot. The Shaymen were never in the game after that and Bradford-born former Halifax winger Lee Elam came off the bench at half-time and finished Mackie's cross three minutes later.

Mackie then ran at the Halifax defence and fired past Legzdins to seal victory late on.
