FIRE crews extinguished a blaze that saw a car fully engulfed in flames on the Birstall roundabout in the early hours of Monday morning.

Commander Darren Wales, of the Cleckheaton Fire Station, said at 1.30am one fire vehicle responded to call from police about a car fire at the roundabout of Junction 27 of the M62.

He said that two firefighters, one in the breathing apparatus, took approximately 20 minutes to put out the fire as the car was fully engulfed in flames.

West Yorkshire Police stopped traffic at the scene while fire crews tackled the blaze.
