A Bradford charity is helping to support a £3 million emergency appeal for victims of Bangladesh's recent cyclone, which claimed the lives of 3,000 people.
The Bradford branch of Islamic Relief, based in Carlisle Road, is urging residents to back the charity's national appeal in the wake of Cyclone Sidr which struck last Thursday.
Phase one of the appeal will concentrate on distributing emergency supplies, including food, blankets, jerry cans and shelter kits. Phase two of the project will then focus on long-term help, including building shelters and livelihoods.
Area manager Waseem Aslam, based at the Bradford site, said: "It is time to unite and help our fellow brothers and sisters in humanity in their time of need.
"We need your help to distribute posters and leaflets in your localities, mosques, colleges and university notice boards, at your work place, retail shops and supermarkets.
"We would like you to verbally spread the word to the committee of your local mosques, family and friends."
