Dr Hilary Jones, GP and media doctor, shows the first aid for seizures in a new DVD released by Yeadon charity Epilepsy Action.

The DVD, produced in conjunction with West Yorkshire Police, informs viewers how to administer first aid in the case of a seizure.

It takes a practical approach, combining Dr Hilary's clear narrative style with role play to discuss epilepsy, its causes and different seizure types, as well as first aid techniques.

Dr Hilary said: "Epilepsy Action's new DVD will help dispel some of the ignorance surrounding this very common condition.

"As well as instructing viewers what to do in the event of a seizure, the DVD also informs them what not to do. For example, it is vital to protect the person from injury, but trying to put something in the person's mouth is highly dangerous, and it is not always necessary to call an ambulance.

"All of this and more is explained on the DVD with instructions which are extremely easy to follow. It should be recommended viewing for everybody. It could save a life."

The DVD includes subtitle and sign language viewing options, and is available in English, Urdu and Gujarati. It costs £10 and to buy it log on to www.epilepsy.org.uk or call freephone 0808 800 5050.
