COMMUNITY spirit was alive and well at this year's Thornton Street Market after its successful debut last year.
The first market was held last August, with more than 40 stalls attracting hundreds of shoppers to the area, famous for being the birthplace of the Bronte sisters.
This year's event once again involved local businesses, with stalls selling items including jewellery, crafts and antiques.
The Black Horse pub also provided entertainment throughout the day.
Councillor Sue Duffy (Lab, Thornton and Allerton) said the market was "bigger and better", showcasing all that's great about the historic village.
She highlighted the "great atmosphere" and said people from across the district - not just Thornton - had attended.
One highlight of the market was the opening of the library and community centre, which are now both run by volunteers.
The first market was set up to boost community spirit in Thornton, and proved so successful that it helped inspire the return of Thornton Gala, which took place last month for the first time in 10 years.
