A 90-year-old woman has been taken to hospital after being assaulted and robbed in her own home in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to her house just after 5am to reports of a man entering the victim's home in Little Horton, Bradford.

The perpetrator, clad all in black and a balaclava, assaulted the elderly woman before leaving with cash from the property.

The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance and is continuing to receive treatment.

Detectives are appealing for the public's help with the incident.

They are keen to hear from anyone who heard or witnessed anything suspicious in the area, around the time of the offence, or anyone with information that could help identify the person responsible.

Detective Inspector Amanda Middleton, of Bradford District CID, said: “Quite rightly, I believe this incident will cause outrage to the general public that someone would attack an elderly, vulnerable woman in her own home.

“I can ensure the local community that an extensive investigation is already underway and we are committed to identifying the perpetrator and ensuring they are brought to justice."

Anyone with information is asked to call Bradford District CID via 101, quoting crime reference 13180385212.
