THE bedroom of a terraced house in Mary Street, Saltaire, was totally destroyed in a fire yesterday which was thought to have been caused by an electrical fault.
Fire crews from Shipley and Bingley were called out at 1.45pm. An aerial appliance from Bradford was also sent along.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "The bedroom of the property was 100 per cent involved when we got there and it was spreading to the roof and chimney.
"No one was at home at the time and a neighbour heard a smoke alarm but did thought it was connected to a burglar alarm he heard at another property earlier.
Fire crews broke into a neighbouring property which was unoccupied at the time to check the fire had not spread.
"We were there four hours and met with fire investigators," he added.
