THE Mini Cooper S which took the first International Rally win for BMC will be on show at this year's Bradford Classic.

Classics at The Broadway is an extension of the annual classic car show on August 11, and will feature two car displays outside the shopping centre along with films at the Light Cinema.

The 1964 Mini Cooper S was driven to victory by Barrie Williams in the 1964 Welsh International Rally. Mini Coopers would go on to become giant killers in the sport of rallying, winning the Monte Carlo rally later that year with Paddy Hopkirk at the wheel.

The Car has been loaned by Barrie Whizzo Williams who drove the car to that first international win. He drove in 700 races and 250 rallies in a career that ran from 1957 to 2018 when he announced his retirement from competitive motorsport.

Also featured will be other race and rally minis, single seater race cars and modified production cars.

The Bradford Classic takes place on August the 11th and cars can be seen throughout the day at The Broadway Shopping Centre.

Mike Cowlam of Classic Events (Bradford) Ltd, which runs the Bradford Classic, said: "This is rare opportunity to get up close to a competition car that made history. I am grateful to Barrie for allowing this rare car from his personal collection to be put on public display. I hope that this display will demonstrate the variety of cars competing and perhaps encourage people to become involved, either as a driver or a marshall."
