THE West Yorkshire Branch of SSAFA The Armed Forces Charity is to host a monthly veterans’ lunch club, starting next month.
It will take place on the first Sunday of each month, with a two-course home-cooked meal on the menu. The club is to be held at St Mary’s Church Hall, Commercial Street, in Morley, and is open to veterans and their immediate family as well as those currently serving.
Chairman of SSAFA’s local branch Terry Grayshon said there were some worrying statistics in the region highlighting the problem of isolation within the veteran community.
“I hope that our Sunday Lunch Club, which is being run on a pay as you feel basis with donations to SSAFA, will help bring veterans together and give them the opportunity to socialise.”
