FASTING fundraiser Nazim Ali has completed his charity 10k challenge after not eating or drinking for 18 hours.
The humanitarian, from Manningham, completed the Morecambe 10k at the weekend in 1:03:57, after struggling with a back injury and running in the weekend’s hot weather.
This was the 37-year-old schools career adviser’s fifth Ramadan run in a row, raising money for food parcels which he will deliver to Syrian refugees on the Turkey-Syria border when he flies to the Middle East on Saturday.
Mr Ali has raised more than £13,000 through his efforts so far, which can pay for almost 300 food parcels.
Mr Ali said: “Spectators and fellow runners were really friendly and encouraging.
“Given the beautiful weather it was a nice carnival atmosphere.
“I am humbled and grateful for the kind ongoing support which has motivated me.”
