TWO charities that work with young people have benefitted from support from the #GiveBradford campaign.

Shine West Bowling, based at St Stephen’s Church, was handed a £10,000 grant by the campaign to help support 136 vulnerable young people.

It runs drop-in sessions, outreach work, and cook and eat sessions, which were able to engage young people who had poor school attendance and at risk of exploitation.

Working with parents, social workers and schools, it provides a safe space to keep young people off the streets and build confidence and encourage aspirations.

E:merge, which encourages young people involved in crime or substance abuse, or at risk of being excluded from education, to transform their lives and communities, received a grant of £8,900 from the #GiveBradford campaign.

This enabled the charity to form a Youth Council in Bierley, Undercliffe and West Bowling, where young people come together to discuss important issues in their community and how to tackle them.

The council gave young people the opportunity to shape their community.
