ILKLEY Lido is set to make a splash as it officially re-opens for the summer season this Saturday.

The occasion is to be marked with a family fun day special offer where guests can attend from 10am to 5.30pm at a cost of just £2.

Bradford Council, which runs the venue, said that around 5,000 people could visit on a typical weekend to enjoy facilities including its lagoon-shaped pool and children’s slide.

The lido, built in 1935, has been voted one of the top ten open air pools in the country, and will also host the Solstice Swim on June 21.

With sunny skies forecast for the weekend, the Council are hoping to record numbers to flock to the pool.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, the Council’s executive member for environment, sport, and culture, said “Ilkley Lido is a great place for a family day out with its wide range of activities and location, close to Ilkley town centre and the beautiful Ilkley Moor. We are looking forward to a great day.”
