SIR – Perry Austin-Clarke and other T&A correspondents have quite rightly expressed delight at the new Light cinema complex in Bradford. However, generally they and all the advertising emphasise the additional facilities available whilst film-watching. Drinks including alcoholic types plus various foods can be consumed at cinema seats, which in my view is a recipe for trouble.

It appears in recent times concert venues have made a specific aim to sell as much alcohol as possible before and during performances but more significantly allowed people to take drinks into the auditorium at will.

In my experience, this has led to many people becoming unruly and spoiling the performance for those just wishing to listen/see which is the primary reason to buy the not inexpensive ticket. It also causes disturbance when people are up and down to the toilet.

The addition of food being served to seats at The Light will in my mind make disturbance a significant problem. Can you imagine when a pint is spilt, an argument by inebriated patrons and the chatter involved in distributing food?

It appears entertainment moguls are now prepared to dumb down to make a fast buck. I won’t add to their profit margin.
