AS the better weather commences and bikers dust off their bikes to take to the road, a scheme to prevent motorcylist deaths will be hosting a fair for bikers this weekend
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) staff started the ‘Biker Down’ awareness course
around 18 months ago to help keep motorcyclists safe on the roads.
This Saturday a motorcycle fair will be held at Fire Service Headquarters, in Birkenshaw, between 10am
and 4pm, alongside the course partners from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA)
and West Yorkshire Advanced Motorists (WYAMS) as well as other supporters.
One of the course instructors Watch Commander John Cavalier, works in the Fire Investigation
but is also a keen biker.
He said: “The free course offers people the chance to learn practical skills to help avoid being involved in
a crash, as well as essential first-aid training."
