A MAIN road in Holme Wood was closed for a "considerable time" yesterday following a serious collision.
Police said in a Facebook there was some disorder following a serious collision between a moped and a taxi, and as a result Broadstone Way was closed in both directions.
It also said there would be a large police presence in the area.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called at 3.31pm yesterday to a collision between a motorbike and a taxi at the junction of Broadstone Way and Stirling Crescent in Holme Wood.
"The air ambulance was called to the scene but the rider of the bike was taken to Leeds General Infirmary in a normal ambulance.
"He remains in a critical and serious condition, and the next 24 hours will be key for him.
"We are aware there was some disorder following the incident but police calmed it down and no arrests were made.
"The driver of the taxi was spoken to by police, and enquiries are ongoing into the incident. No arrests have been made."
Tong Councillor Alan Wainwright said the incident happened near the Holme Wood Club.
He said: "A lad on a motorbike was knocked over by a taxi.
"The air ambulance was called. I feel for the family."
