GROUPS across the district have been raising cash for this year's Sports Relief charity fund.
Pupils at Shipley College have spent the past week fundraising for the national event.
They have been taking par t in activities including smoothie-making bike rides, a basketball shooting challenge, and a dance-based fitness session.
Other activities have included a sponsored three-hour sing-a-long challenge. Today James Thomas, ALS Team Leader, will be attempting to complete the 58,000 steps it would take to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
Staff and students will be joining him and sponsoring him throughout the day with all proceeds going to Sports Relief.
At Immanuel College there were fundraising events including a student sports relief mile, a bake sale and the ‘Great Immanuel Sports Relief Bake Off.’
The bake off saw lots of staff and students taking part, with the finished pieces judged by a panel that included Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Abid Hussain, head Jane Tiller and Anthony Laotan – Curate of Holy Trinity Church.
The winners were:
Best Tasting – Sam Philips
Best Decorated –Maddison Padgett
Best Buns/ Cup Cakes – Jack McDougall
Mr Laotan said: "I have been looking forward to this event all week and was very honoured to have been asked to be a judge. I have really enjoyed meeting the other judges and the winners.”
Sam said: "I never thought I would win I am so surprised. I would like to thank my mum, her recipe was a winner.”
Maddison said: "I feel amazing to be a winner; everyone has worked so hard with their baking entries.”
At Bradford College students rowed the equivalent distance of crossing the Channel to France and back (66km) to raise money.
There were also dance sessions and a mini sports event.
