POLICE are investigating a suspected shooting which damaged a property in Odsal last night.

A building on Pearson Road West sustained damage "consistent with a firearms discharge" shortly before midnight yesterday.

No-one was injured, and specialist firearms officers are now investigating the incident.

The shooting left a large hole in one of the building's ground floor windows.

The short road is just off Odsal Road, near Odsal Roundabout, on the opposite side from the new KFC.

The road remained taped off for much of this morning, with police cars blocking the entrance.

Crime scene officers were at the scene collecting evidence, and could be seen measuring the large hole in the window caused by the gunshot.

The cordon also included Bradford Council's Odsal Resource Centre - one of the venues for Bradford Council's Care Leavers' Service, although that was not the building damaged in the shooting.

This morning residents woke to the shocking news that a shooting had happened just yards from their homes.

One resident, who did not want to be named, said they were in bed at the time and was woken by the gunshot.

They said: "I just heard a loud bang late at night. I almost jumped out of my skin."
Another described hearing a series of bangs that they initially thought was caused by a car backfiring.

It is thought that the house belongs to an elderly couple who live there with their adult children.

One resident described them as a "lovely" couple.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called at 12am today to a report of damage to a door and window at an address in Pearson Road West, Bradford.
