A SUPERMARKET chain has applied to increase the size of a new store in Thornbury.
Last year Aldi was granted planning permission to build a new supermarket on the the former site of Thornbury Middle School, which was demolished in 2003.
The approved store would have a 1,140 square metre sales area and create up to 30 jobs.
Now the chain has informed Bradford Council that it plans to increase the size of the store's sales area by 114 square metres, saying the change was needed to make sure the store "operated as effectively and efficiently as possible to the benefit of its customers."
An application to alter the conditions of the approved planning application says the changes will "allow for a more pleasant shopping environment and more stock of the established product range to be out on the shop floor."
Planning officers will decide on whether to allow the amendment by May.
