ONE of the district’s quirkiest events will return to Saltaire next month.
Saltaire Potato Day, run by the West Yorkshire Organic Group, will be held at Shipley College’s Exhibition Hall on Saturday February 10.
The event, which runs from 10am to 2pm, will see 38 varieties of potato available to buy, with local growers showing off their wares.
The day will also see a a seed swap organised by local group Veg on the Edge, allowing people to bring any spare seeds they wish to swap or donate.
There will be free spud themed talks by Plate2Plate composts and Riverford Organic Farmers, expert advice on growing potatoes and stalls selling compost, fruit trees and bushes. The Wholegrain Café will be serving snacks.
People are advised to arrive early, as the more popular varieties are likely to sell out within minutes.
