A MAN has been released by police following a dramatic incident that saw armed officers swoop into a supermarket car park.
Just before 4pm yesterday armed police descended on Tesco on Valley Road after they were tipped off that a car linked to a firearms investigation was parked at the superstore.
Officers were shouting at shocked shoppers to move away from the scene, and a man was surrounded and told to lay down on the floor, just outside the supermarket's main entrance.
He was then led away by the armed officers. But police have today revealed that the man was not arrested, and was released after being "spoken to."
Dramatic footage of the incident was shared with the T&A by a reader who was in the car park at the time.
A police spokesman said: "Armed officers attended Valley Road in Bradford yesterday at around 3.55pm after receiving information about a vehicle which was thought to be linked to an ongoing firearms investigation.
"A 32-year-old man was detained at the scene and the vehicle, a white Audi A1, was searched.
"The man was spoken to by officers and later released."
