TWO kittens 'close to death' were rescued after being dumped in a recycling bin outside a Bradford supermarket.

The pair were left in an aluminium tin recycling bin in the car park outside Tesco on Canal Road.

A crew from Stanningley Fire Station were called to the incident at around 10.30pm yesterday.

The kittens, one black and one described as tiger striped, were taken away to be checked over by representatives from Bradford Cat Watch Rescue.

Watch commander Mick Ferries, of Stanningley Fire Station, said: "The cats were close to death. They were two dumped kittens.

"We had to break into the sealed bin to get to them."
