PHILIP Davies has prompted laughter in the Commons this afternoon with a joke on Theresa May's Cabinet reshuffle.

MPs are now back in Westminster following the Christmas break and the outspoken Conservative Shipley MP joked he would need to "get in quick" with his question "before the Prime Minister's inevitable call".

His quip was met with amusement from fellow MPs.

He went on to raise the issue of a "worrying" increase in crime in his constituency in recent months.

He accused the Government of not putting enough focus on police resources and said: "Please will they give them the resources they need to keep our constituents safe, because they are in danger of being very greatly out of touch with public opinion on this issue."

Speaker John Bercow joked that he is "more certain than ever" that Theresa May is "keeping the job open for him".

The Prime Minister is reshuffling her Cabinet today.
