THE organisers of one of the biggest wedding fairs in Europe which is being held in Bradford are offering a reward of £1,000 to anyone who can help them track down a stolen tuk-tuk.

The eye-catching vehicle belongs to organisers of the National Asian Wedding Show, which takes place at the Cedar Court Hotel in Rooley Lane on Sunday, January 14.

It was stolen from the hotel’s car park, where it was being stored in a trailer, at some point last week, and now the show’s organisers are pleading with those who took it to return the trailer, and for information from the public to help track it down.

Manny Singh, managing director of the National Asian Wedding Show, said he last saw the tuk-tuk last Tuesday when he visited the hotel.

He said: “I went on Saturday and it was not there, and we are just waiting to look through the hotel’s CCTV to find out when it was taken.

“The trailer had high security on it, it had a lock on it and a wheel clamp, so whoever took it must have come prepared and been keeping an eye on it.

“The trailer was expensive, but the tuk-tuk was imported all the way from India so that was also pretty expensive.”

Mr Singh is offering a reward of up to £1,000 for any information that leads to an arrest in relation to the incident.

The tuk-tuk, which is emblazoned with National Asian Wedding Show logos, is used for promotional purposes and is taken all over the UK for the wedding shows.

It had been parked in Bradford since December following its last use at a fair in London in November.

Mr Singh said coincidentally he had been looking at getting a GPS tracker fitted to the trailer days before it was stolen.

Tuk-tuks, also known as rickshaws, are one of the most popular modes of transport in India and across Asia.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “This is believed to have happened between midnight on Tuesday, January 2, and 4.30pm on Saturday, January 6.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bradford South Area Neighbourhood Team by calling 101, quoting crime reference number 13180009249.

“Information can also be reported anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”

The National Asian Wedding Fair will open at 11am on Sunday. The fair is one of the biggest in the country, and will feature exhibitions and stalls from industry leading designers and food companies, as well as two catwalk shows during the day, and a bridal couture lounge. Admission costs £5, and is free for children aged 12 and under.
