A FAMILY of seven had to leave their home in the early hours of today after a fire started in their house.
Firefighters from Shipley were called to the blaze in West Royd Drive, Windhill, at around 3am.
A spokesman for Shipley fire station said that the family managed to escape and call the fire brigade before any serious damage was caused.
He said: "There was only minor damage to the house.
"The family had working smoke detectors which alerted them to the danger.
"The damage is mainly smoke damage to the kitchen, the cause of which is still under investigation."
The family was made up of two adults and five children.
