POLICE stopped a "heavily intoxicated," uninsured motorist who was driving through Bradford city centre earlier today.

Officers on patrol in the centre stopped the car, an Audi TT, "due to its manner of driving."

A police spokesman said: "The driver was heavily intoxicated. He was searched and found to be in possession of a class A drug, checks also showed that he didn’t have insurance. The driver was subsequently arrested for these offences and his vehicle was seized.

"People who drink and drive have no place on the roads. They will be caught and positively dealt with as we aim to make the roads safer."
