A Bradford primary school was called described as “good” in every area in a new Ofsted report.

Hollingwood Primary, in Horton Bank Top, retained its status as a good school after inspectors visited.

The school has over 450 pupils, the majority of which are from minority groups and speak English as an additional language.

The report praises the senior leadership of the school and says the governing body does its job well holding the school to account. Inspectors were also impressed with work being done with other schools to share good practice.

It adds: “Throughout the school, the rate of pupils’ progress in English and mathematics is rapidly increasing.”

There is also praise for the school’s early years. Children are said to get off to a good start in the school’s nursery and receive a good standard of education in the reception class to prepare them for year one.

Pupils are praised for their behaviour and attitude to learning, and inspectors say the provision to support pupils who have special needs is effective.

Hollingwood Headteacher Jonathan Duke: “We are so pleased with the outcome of this report and proud of our staff and children. Ofsted has found all aspects of the school’s provision to be good. This could not be achieved without the hard work of all our staff and pupils and the support of parents and governors.”

Councillor Imran Khan, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Education, Employment and Skills said: “This is a great report which reflects well on everyone at the school.

“The school’s teaching is helping pupils to achieve great results and it is clear from the report that children at Hollingwood Primary are working hard to make the most of their education. My congratulations go to everyone involved.”
